French term or phrase: préhenseur
Hello,
The following are items in the "poste de conduite" of a (military) ship: "écran, préhenseur, galvanomètres, joystick, platines".
I can't work out what the "préhenseur" could be. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Hayley

Explanation:
"appréhender" can mean "capture, arrest" or "GRASP".
the "préhension" is the fact of seizing, grasping something.

Do you think there could be such a device in a "poste de conduite"? I have asked a friend who was in the military and waiting for his answer.
