Tech/Engineering - SAP / inventory management

material staging
Explanation:
This looks like a possibility. Within "Warehouse Management" help:

Material Staging

Use

If you are using Warehouse Management, you can use this function to transport materials to production bin locations, that are grouped into supply areas.

Mise à disposition d'articles

Utilisation

From the documentation, it looks like "staging" is used in the warehouse management system to keep track of item moments in general. So "lending" would be a specific form of "item movement" and thus a form of "staging." But perhaps someone else will have a better explanation?

thank you very much; I added an explanation in the glossary as not every "mise a disposition" can be translated in this way

Asker: It looks like in the banking context it certainly is a "drawing"; however, I'm afraid my context has nothing to do with the finance or loans, as it say sth about lending batteries ("mise à disposition - prêt de batteries"); anyway, thank you for the very useful links!

Notes to answerer
Asker: yes, "material staging" certainly is "mise a disposition" in the context of transporting materials to manufacturing facilities. But will it work also in the context of lending equipments to clients? Because my text clearly refers to lending: "mise à disposition - prêt de batteries"; and further it says, "tous les stocks prêtés à un client sont transférés dans des emplacements informatiques spécifiques..." will "staging" work in such a context?

Asker: ok, thanks, I'll go for that; I was asking you as a native speaker if this could work in this context; if it does, then I won't lose any more time on it; it's the fourth hour I'm sweating over one page of a SAP manual! Thank you for the effort :)

agree  Didier Fourcot: This is the proper term from the glossary, although I suspect that the term of the question is implementation-specific, and thus could have no formal equivalent in English, at least this will be a term that is described somewhere
