As stated above, this term is being used here in the nominative form (and generally in the plural).

From the examples (given below), I'm fairly sure it is referring to the actual pipes. Can anyone back this up or, alternatively, provide the correct translation in this context?

"Tous les isométriques (1108 environ) sont soudés et les raccordements sur équipements
sont soudés."

"Préconisations : on préserve les isométriques les plus longs possibles. Les manutentions
seront mécanisées pour les isométriques de forts diamètres avec mise en place de palan,
ou autre moyen"

"Unlike orthographics, piping isometrics allow the pipe to be drawn in a manner by which the length, width and depth are shown in a single view. Isometrics are usually drawn from information found on a plan and elevation views. The symbols that represent fittings, Valves and flanges are modified to adapt to the isometric grid. Usually, piping isometrics are drawn on preprinted paper, with lines of equilateral triangles form of 60°.

recorded in the visible Web - so most often it's just a question of asking the right question to retrieve it.

But there is life - real life - outside of the Web - so even if you can't find something on the Web it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Like here " isométriques" being used as a noun.

As for the previous comment I simply couldn't resist the temptation to indulge in a bit of wordplay.

Nevertheless, it's about a quite serious point of method.
If the only meaning you know of fits like a square peg in a round hole, there is no point trying to pretend that the hole must in fact be square.
You can't twist the meaning of the ST to fit the only translation you know of.
You have to start with some lateral thinking to find something that does make sense and fits with the ST.
To me "tubing of the same cross section" does make sense - you can keep welding sections directly to each other.
In fact I don't what else could make sense and agree with one of the meanings of "isométrique" as adjective related to real life tubing.
Ideally the surest bet would be to ask the client.

Not sure what the point of that comment was.
As you pointed out in your reply to Robin ("I don't see much how you could "weld" drawings"), the context rules out "isometric drawings" here. I was fairly sure that the word was being used synonymously with "pipe" here but was unable to find other sources offering similar use of the word. That's why I asked here, so folks like Robin who have encountered the term in such circumstances could say if this were the case or not.

Thanks for your contribution.
This is of course the most common meaning of "isométrique". And, as far as I can tell, most of the Google hits for "isometric piping" also relate to drawings (e.g. isometric piping symbols). It's obviously not the case here.

Asker: Daryo, thanks for your input. However, as Robin has pointed out, your suggested translation of "on préserve les isométriques les plus longs possibles" is incorrect. Robin, nor anyone else for that matter, has suggested welding drawings (which is why I asked the question in the first place).
