French term or phrase: [names of reviews/journals]
I would appreciate some guidance from other translators on the most suitable approach to adopt when dealing with the names of reviews or journals.

This text (aimed as a teachers' guide) includes a section on Black literary movements (including the Négritude movement), and naturally contains many examples of publications.

I have no hesitation in replacing the names of books with their 'standard' English title (e.g. "Wretched of the Earth") but for some reason I am hesitant to even provide a translation in brackets for "L'Étudiant noir" or "Guadeloupe litéraire" or "Le Monde colonial".

Is this because I am treating this latter category as similar to newspapers, and one would never put "The World" or "The Cross" or "The Evening"? Is this the correct attitude for brief titles of what are explained to be journals/reviews?

Original Titles

Explanation:
You're in a tough situation there. I would suggest providing the original titles, and then in a footnote or something similar, you could provide an explanation and translation. If you just say 'Le Monde', then people are unlikely to know who this is referring to. Even people with some French would be unlikely to know much about these organisations.
