Hi,
The sentence is:
"les paramètres numériques gaussiens ont été décrits en termes de moyenne et de déviation standard et les paramètres numérique non gaussiens en termes de médiane et d'intervalle interquartiles"

In my research I only found 2 hits with "Gaussian numerical parameters" and "non-Gaussian numerical parameters" and both textes seemed to be translations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would skip 'numerical'.
E.g. parameters of the Gaussian (case) were the mean and standard deviation and in the non-Gaussian case they were the median and the interquartile intervals.
Something like that. Mean and SD are parameters of the Gaussian distribution.

So after further research, as i'm not good at maths, unlike Daryo who is good at absolutely everything 😏, this answer is fine and the closest to the French.

So after further research, this answer is definately right and Daryo has disagreed yet again with a good answer but that's par for the course for him alas.

disagree  Daryo: ghits won't compensate "I'm hopeless at maths"/translating science doesn't work that way/ghits are surely going to help make the difference between "parameters OF a Gaussian function" and a parameter which statistical distribution IS a Gaussian function??

neutral  SafeTex: I try not to disagree when I have an answer up but "numerical gaussian parameters" gets 0 ghits.I think that all the answers have the same idea but this is not the standard term at all.

in this specific text, it's about parametres related to some orthopedic device that vary according a normal / Gaussian distribution from one measurement to another, or not.

IOW it's NOT about "the parameters of a Gaussian function" it's about parameters (measured while studying some orthopedic device?), some of which are distributed according a normal / Gaussian distribution, and some are not.

So for a "parameter" which varies according a "Gaussian / normal" distribution, the variations of that parameter will be expressed by giving the average value and the standard deviation (of all measurements of that parameter).

While for a "parameter" that is not distributed according a "Gaussian / normal" distribution,the variations of that parameter will be shown by giving the median value and the interquartile values (of all measurements of that parameter).

Oops .. it's better to include "numerical" as there are most probably some other "parameters" of this study of some orthopedic device that are not of the "numerical" type.

"Gaussian numerical parameters" is in fact right, but too much abbreviated - could be all too easily misunderstood.

It was supposed to mean

"numerical parameters whose variations follow a Gaussian distribution"

which is exactly the right meaning in this text,

BUT it could be also missinterpred as

"the numerical parameters OF a Gaussian distribution"

which would be totally wrong for this ST.

  -> could you for a change pay more attention to the actual text to translate (i.e the whole sentence / paragraph), and not only to definitions of each individual word separately; there is this thing called "context" and also "internal consistency of a text"!
