I think M. Morrison deserves kudos for discovering that it's "cavaliers ET bénédictins". How you translate it will depend on the purpose of the document - it may even be simpler to leave it out than to embark on a lengthy explanation. Or you could say Knights and Benedictines without explaining it, to pique people's curiosity.
I think the idea is that monks sit indoors in contemplation, while knights travel far and wide in search of dragons to slay.
The term appears to be specific to one company, and gets only twelve hits. |
