French term or phrase: Préjudice
Hi everyone,

I'm having difficulty distinguishing this from "dommage". I was thinking along the lines of "injury", but to my mind that implies bodily injury. The full sentence is:

...tout dommage, préjudice et perte susceptible de résulter de l’exécution du présent Contrat

Any thoughts would be very welcome.

Cheers,
Nick

Actually, "damage, harm and loss" seems to be a standard form in US law. It might even be that the French expression came from the English one!

loss and damage

Explanation:
Asker has now added the fact that this is from an undertaking to take out insurance.

Note that I have expanded the term to its three word and suggest the standard UK expression "loss and damage" used by the insurance industry. Cara always needed not conflate "damages" with "damage".

Defining "loss and damage"

The UNFCCC has defined loss and damage to include harms resulting from sudden-onset events (climate disasters, such as cyclones) as well as slow-onset processes (such as sea level rise).[3] Loss and damage can occur in human systems (such as livelihoods) as well as natural systems (such as biodiversity), though the emphasis in research and policy is on human impacts.[4] Within the realm of loss and damage to human systems, a distinction is made between economic losses and non-economic losses. The main difference between the two is that non-economic losses involve things that are not commonly traded in markets.[5]
