Tech/Engineering - Computers: Hardware / Digital print engine
French term or phrase: reporté sur
I'm translating a maintenance manual for a digital print engine. The above term appears a number of times in a list below a picture of the ports on the rear of the PC used to operate the engine, e.g.:

- 4 x connecteur USB 2.0 dont 1 reporté sur le tiroir d’alimentation.
- Connecteur Ethernet J3 reporté sur le tiroir d’alimentation (embase J3)
- Connecteur Ethernet J1 reporté sur le tiroir d’alimentation (embase J1).
- Connecteur série RS232 COM1 reporté sur le tiroir d’alimentation

Does "reporté sur" mean that the port in question has a corresponding port on the power supply panel/rack?

If need be, I can send you a diagram privately.

TIA,

Stephen

replicated

Explanation:
I can't tell if this applies to your device, but ports are often replicated on PC's, i.e. the PC sees them as the same USB port, but it has actually been replicated (through a port replicator) either on another device or, for instance, on the front panel of a PC.

Example sentence(s):
  • This case provides two output replicated ports: one for Tx in one direction and one for Tx of the other direction. Each replicated port is an input to a different monitoring port of the appliance to monitor both directions of traffic.

Explanation:
This is a variation on both Phil's and Matthew's suggestions - the ports here are in the context of a single machine which contains a separate power unit, and are being re-directed, as Stephen says.
