I don't really know any Finnish, but when I did a search, the word came up repeatedly on Finnish sites. Also, the word often seemed to be mentioned in religious texts (your quoted texts are referring to the Psalms). It is also referred to in sites referring to poetry or songs, both of which can have verses. So it's definitely Finnish, and it probably means "verse", though a native Finnish speaker would need to confirm that. |
