Finnish term

mennessä vastatut tulokset

Finnish to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
From a doctor's notes for a cardiac patient:

"ProBNP viimeksi 8100. Osastolla otettu ProBNP ei vielä vastattu." [proBNP = a type of measurement]

Elsewhere in the same notes:

"[DDMMYYYY] mennessä vastatut tulokset.
[a long list of measurements follows]"

I can't zero in on what "vastata" means in this context. How should it be interpreted?

Thanks

Discussion

Timo Lehtilä Dec 18, 2017:
Yes (with explanation) Yes, doctors are, apparently, cryptic everywhere in their writing. Here, ’vastatut tulokset’ refers to results that have been received from e.g. laboratories when first some tissue samples have been sent there. In ordinary Finnish it might be ‘saadut tulokset’ (got results). Of course, doctorial expression is more exact, because it implies that some results have not been got yet. That is, they are unanswered so far.

Note from asker:
It's not obvious, but thank you.
