I have seen as a description of units that last a lifetime, with no need for servicing or maintenance or repairs:
lifetime car-batteries.

I hope you believe me when I say that the \'your\' is purely a typo :-)
These batteries last for X years without maintenance, but not necessarily for the user\'s lifetime (though some British makes do promise to give you a new battery if the original product fails at ANY time during the first owner\'s life, as a marketing gimmick!).
