English term

lifetime unit

Non-PRO English Tech/Engineering
End Reports also give details of lifetime units issued and sold.
[no broader context. the text relates to a device that does something and generates reports]

Discussion

Arthur Borges Jun 23, 2002:
More context definitely needed. What kind of "device" and "does" and "something"?

lasts your lifetime

I have seen as a description of units that last a lifetime, with no need for servicing or maintenance or repairs:

lifetime car-batteries.

I hope you believe me when I say that the \'your\' is purely a typo :-)

These batteries last for X years without maintenance, but not necessarily for the user\'s lifetime (though some British makes do promise to give you a new battery if the original product fails at ANY time during the first owner\'s life, as a marketing gimmick!).

last a lifetime,

usually the whole life of the unit, not necessarily a human life time...
