the phrase isn't particularly pretty - kind of like the previous
"hitting of chicken out of a park" (see other question).

Here, it conjures up a scene of one sweet tooth (covered in powdered sugar) running into the end zone. But that is not what is to be imagined.

So, here's another, still rather lighthearted explanation:

sweet tooth: you like sweet-tasting food
score a touchdown: in American football, to get the football in the end zone and get 6 points = big success (sort of like scoring a goal in soccer).
extra point: one of the football players (the kicker) can score an additional point after the touchdown to make it seven points. That would even be better than "just" a touchdown.
Any of the two teams playing can possibly score again as long as the game is not over.

So, in a sense, if the dessert were a football player, it would be running with the ball (the fantastically tasting dessert) and keep running until it gets into the "taste" end zone and scores a touchdown. It wins six points.

Now, in a sense, your sweet tooth (or your taste buds for sweet things) is/are judge(s)/referees, assigning the points here. They are saying: we think this was so good (tasted so good), it deserves 6 points.

That is meant by "scores with us" = "we attest to the great taste of the dessert" and say
wow, yummy, six points!!!!!

I would change Veronika's "make a hit with your sweet tooth" (sounds like making a hit-record with one sweet-sounding tooth) to "score a hit with your sweet tooth" (well, that still makes me think of music now)

rather in the sense of "hitting the taste mark exactly" = "sending a sweet dessert arrow exactly into the sweet-taste center.
