My boss needs to know how to say "Yo Perdono" (I Forgive) in Swedish. There is no more context. She will use such sentence as the name of a campaign. The important thing is to keep the subject for emphasis, to show that I am the one who forgive, and that I will enjoy the benefits of forgiveness. Google Translate says that this is the sentence in Swedish: Jag förlåter. I would really appreciate confirmation on this. Thank you in advance.

Note that "keep the subject for emphasis" doesn't work at all in Swedish (where there's no such thing as a subjectless phrase, as there is in Spanish). "Jag förlåter" is indeed the unavoidable translation, but it does sound a little weird on its own. If this is a campaign with real money involved I suggest your boss consult with a Swedish-language copywriter.

[In reply to asker's comment:] There's nothing intrinsically wrong with "Jag förlåter", but it's not a colloquial expression. We'd say "I forgive him/her/them/you" in Swedish, but "I forgive" = "Jag förlåter" on its own, without an object, doesn't sound as natural in Swedish as "I forgive" does in English. (And, again, the "emphasis" - the "yo" - doesn't come across at all in Swedish, because the "jag" isn't optional as it is in Spanish.)

It might still work fine, or it might look a bit odd. As with all copywriting, the context - layout, other copy, illustration etc. - is everything. It's risky to put out a single tag line for translation like this.

Asker: Thanks, Joakim. Yes, it is a real campaign. I've been explained that behind "I forgive", there is an underlying "I choose to forgive" over not doing it or over revenge. This campaign will be fostered in as much languages as possible. Although we would love to speak with a Swedish copywriter, we don't know anyone, and I'm not sure we have the time. Does "Jag förlåter" sound unnatural? Thank you so much for your feedback.
