English term or phrase: competition substitution model reaction
Estoy traduciendo un documento de absorción de contaminantes por materiales de ciclodextrosa etc.. y en La figura 78 se dice:

FIG. 76 shows a partial 1H NMR spectrum (DMSO-d6, 400 MHz, rt) of the unpurified products of model reaction S2.

"FIG. 78 shows the 1H NMR spectra (DMSO-d6, 400 MHz, rt) of aliquots of the competition substitution model reaction S4 collected at various reaction times".

Os pongo la figura 76 porque es donde me crea la duda ese "model reaction", no se si la figura 78 se refiere entonces a "un modelo de reacción de sustutucion de competición" o bien a "una reacción del modelo de sustitución de competición"

Spanish translation:reacción competitiva de sustitución
Explanation:
Reaction S2 is the main model reaction (or reaction description), whereas S4 is a competitive reaction that takes place simultaneously, reducing possible yields of the overall desired final product. Under that circumstances, the best description I would use to describe this situation in Spanish is the provided answer.

Removing "model" does not remove much of the meaning of the expression, and using three descriptive words on a single noun makes the final text sound a bit dense in Spanish. However, in case you prefer including it, the expression could be "Modelo de reacción competitiva de sustitución".

The use of "reacción modelo" is also something used in Spanish. However, "reacción modelo competitiva de sustitución" sounds a bit forced to me.

reacción del modelo de sustitución de la (competencia) competicion

Explanation:
El diccionario Deepl traductor me dije "competencia" pero me parece que queda mejor "competicion".
