¿En este caso "passed away" se traduce como "han pasado como una nube"?
¿No se traduce "passed away" como "han muerto"? pero en ese caso no tiene sentido decir han muerto como una nube.

Just an idea and to make sense of it, I think the idea is one of passing clouds or fleeting clouds, disappearing in a heartbeat with the analogy likened to death. You may have to stick in something like "fleeting"-
