Principle Of Operation
In MBE High Rate Thickeners the feed slurry is flocculated, then injected below the surface
of a deep fluidized pulp bed.
The pulp bed surface forms a well defined interface with the liquid above it. Solid particles
are trapped in the bed whilst clear liquid rises towards the surface where it is removed by
the circumferential overflow launder. The trapped solid particles are removed from the
tank by the underflow pumps through the underflow discharge pipes.

Lift drive shaft into the tank and keep in vertical position through feed well at center
of High Rate Thickener (HRT). Lift the complete bridge assembly on to the tank such that the center of the
bridge is at the center of the HRT. Bolt the bridge to the bridge supporting channel.

Probably the most important item for successful operation of the High Rate Thickener is good flocculant
addition.
