This applies regardless of any enrollment season restrictions that might otherwise exist for dependent coverage.
A QMCSO may be either a National Medical Child Support Notice issued by a state child support agency or an order or judgment from a state court or administrative body directing the company to cover a child under the Plan.
Federal law provides that a QMCSO must meet certain form and content requirements to be valid.
If the parent is not enrolled in the Plan, the parent must enroll for coverage for both the parent and the child.
If the plan receives a valid QMCSO and the parent does not enroll the dependent child, the custodial parent or state agency may do so.
A child who is eligible for coverage through a QMCSO may not enroll dependents for coverage under the plan.
