Impactul luminii asupra formei: schimbarea valorii și geometria
Impactul pe care lumina îl are asupra unui obiect depinde de geometria obiectului; de exemplu, când e proiectată pe un zid plat rezultatul e un cerc plat de lumină pe când dacă e proiectată pe o suprafață curbă ( cum ar fi un cilindru) rezultatul e o gradație subtilă între lumină și întuneric. Suprafețele cele mai apropiate de sursa de lumină vor fi cele mai luminoase în timp ce acele care sunt mai departe se vor întuneca progresiv. "Core shadow: The core shadow runs along where the light ends and the shadow begins. This is perhaps the most difficult part for artists to get right. It is not intuitive to darken an area inside the outline/edge/contour of the shape. One common problem is that many artists make the edge the darkest. This will flatten your form. Therefore, look for the darkest part of the form to be near where the light ends and shadows begin."
