METHODS A sample of 2,516 Framingham Offspring study participants 25 to 40 years of age free of CVD and diabetes had their non–HDL-C progression modeled over 8 study examinations (mean follow-up 32.6 years) using group-based methods.
Lipid level progression over time was analyzed using group-based modeling for normally distributed data (SAS Proc Traj procedure in SAS software; SAS Institute, Cary, North Carolina).
In this study, the group-based model assigned individuals to 1 of the 3 categories of low, medium, and high non– HDL-C levels based on their longitudinal trajectory of
Our group-based model identified 3 mutually exclusive cholesterol trajectories of non–HDL-C over 8 exams.
Our group-based model identified 3 mutually exclusive cholesterol trajectories.
The average non–HDL-C levels over time for subgroups of participants clustered according to group-based model estimation are shown.
Group-based model estimation was produced using Proc Traj procedure in SAS software.

podejście oparte na modelowaniu grupowym
Explanation:
Proc Traj is a specialized mixture model that estimates multiple groups within the population, in contrast to a traditional regression or growth curve model that models only one mean within the population. Designed by researchers, Proc Traj is not part of the base SAS® program and must be downloaded separately.

Traj estimates a discrete mixture model for clustering of longitudinal data series. Groups may represent distinct subpopulations or alternatively, components of a discrete approximation for a potentially complex data distribution.

Supported distributions are: censored (or regular) normal, zero inflated (or regular) Poisson, and Bernoulli distributions (logistic model). The censored normal model is useful for psychometric scale data with censoring at a scale minimum and/or scale maximum, the zero inflated Poisson model useful for count data with more zeros than would be expected under the Poisson assumption, and the Bernoulli model useful for 0/1 data. The model is appropriate for data with average values changing smoothly as a function of the dependent variable (time, age, ...). Some sharp changes can be handled through the inclusion of time dependent covariates.

Zastosowaliśmy tę metodę do modelowania zmiany czasu w domu w trymestrze ciąży i do identyfikacji grup w danych na podstawie podobieństw we wzorcach zmian. Aby zidentyfikować optymalną liczbę grup, zastosowaliśmy metody opisane wcześniej (Xie i in., 2006). Zaczęliśmy od modelu z dwiema grupami i dopasowaliśmy model do momentu dopasowania modelu pięciu grup. Dla każdego modelu najpierw dopasowujemy najwyższy możliwy możliwy wielomian (sześcienny, używając Proc TRAJ w SAS). Model został następnie zmieniony wielomianami niższego rzędu, jeśli wielomiany najwyższego rzędu nie były znaczące. Kryterium informacji Bayesa (BIC), miara dopasowania modelu, zostało zarejestrowane dla każdego modelu końcowego i użyte do wyboru modelu wśród modeli o różnej liczbie grup (2–5 grup).
