English term or phrase: Holiness to the Lord
Hi, I need this phrase translated from English into Latin. Thanks so much, your help is greatly appreciated!!!
Mady Jane
Latin translation:Sanctus Domino
Explanation:
Since I think you mean to have it engraved into ceramics - or any other material - this is what you would find in the Latin Bible, the Vulgate (Exodus, Leviticus, Jeheremiah, Zachariah etc.) and which means "It's holy/sacred unto/for the Lord" (It's something sacred, since reserved for the Lord), referred to the Israeli people, to the high priests, to the sacred places or even to the part of harvest/cattle which had to be offered in sacrifice to the Lord.

If I'm right with my assuming that this has to be engraved somewhere, please keep in mind that "sanctus" has to be changed according to the gender of the thing/person which is "sacred" unto the Lord:
"sanctus" is for masculine
"sancta" is for feminine
"sanctum" is for neuter (usually objects/non-living things, although most times even objects come with their own gender in Latin)
