neutral  Francesco Badolato: "it likes pioneer species such as birch and aspen" non significa che trae vantaggio o beneficia ma predilige aprire la strada a specie come la betulla e il pioppo.// Intendevo "pioneer species" specie nuove e non aprire la strada a, ma non beneficia.

  -> Il senso di base è lo stesso, e poi, se al massimo si può utilizzare "prediligere" per una pianta, non lo vedo molto adatto per una foresta. Non so se in inglese questo uso è normale, ma non lo è certo in italiano.
