übersetze ich "need" hier mit "Not", "Notlage" oder mit "Bedürfnis"? Oder anders?

Der Satzzusammenhang entstammt einem Aufsatz von Ramesh Mishra ("Marx and Welfare"):

"In concrete terms, welfare manifests itself in the social recognition of human need and the distribution of the social product in accordance with the criterion of need."
