This is what I get from the extract you posted and I think this has the mot sense. This could however also mean friends that are not religious and will then fall victims to the disasters, however I think that my translation convey kind of both meanings without being too precise, and would be satisfactory whatever the real meaning is (given that the real meaning is a bit ambiguous in English too). |
