with holes through which Dacron loops are laced.6,19 With the
horse anesthetized in dorsal recumbency, an unscrubbed assistant
passes the well-lubricated ring and liner through the anus so
the surgeon can guide it through a ventral midline celiotomy,
cranial to the tear but far enough caudad that the sleeve does
not retract into the rectum when the horse stands
