In de verdiepingsalinea wordt uitgelegd of toegespitst waarom het nieuws dat in de lead wordt genoemd, zo belangwekkend is.

Explanation:
Tja, ik heb op de school voor journalistiek geleerd dat in de lead van een nieuwsverhaal alle belangrijke informatie in een notendop zit en dat die notendop in de rest van het artikel wordt toegelicht.
Nu leer ik daar dus een nieuw woord bij: de nutgraf van een verhaal. Dat is de zin of meestal alinea waarin wordt uitgelegd waarom het nieuws dat in de lead wordt aangekondigd, zo belangwekkend is.
In een standaard nieuwsverhaal zal de nutgraf doorgaans de tweede of derde alinea zijn van het artikel. In een langer verhaal of feature kan de nutgraf ook verder in het artikel staan. Meestal zal in een lang artikel de nutgraf moeilijker te vinden zijn, want dan wordt het verhaal langzaam uitgediept en kan de informatie die je in een nutgraf zou verwachten, verspreid staan door het hele artikel.

Ik zou kiezen voor uitlegalinea of nog mooier: verdiepingsalinea, want eigenlijk wordt in die paar zinnen de lead uitgediept en/of toegespitst.

Misschien is notendop eigenlijk ook wel een mooi woord. In een paar zinnen wordt het belang van het nieuws toegelicht. Die zinnen zijn dan de notendop van het artikel. De notendop geeft antwoord op de vraag: Waarom vallen we de lezer met dit nieuws lastig?
