Reference Reference information: Open any recent business magazine, and there will likely be an article about huddle collaboration. Moreover, with good reason. Collaboration is the cornerstone of successful inspiration. It is not so much innovation by committee; it is more creativity by brainstorm. If a company wants to be relevant and remain competitive, it needs to embrace the collaborative efforts of its workforce. For this to occur, an optimum environment must be provided where employees and management can communicate freely, openly, and if necessary, remotely. Conference rooms have their place in the grand scheme, but sometimes the area needs to be a smaller space where people can meet in groups of three to five. The solution for favorable huddle collaboration is the opposite of the typical open, cubicle setting. Studies have shown that productivity and confidence see a reduction in this type of environment. A huddle space, by definition, is designed to provide a place where ideas can be shared in comfort and with nominal distractions. A place where people can literally huddle up and work together. They should be equipped with a variety of communication devices, from digital whiteboards to LED monitors and TVs, and computers. The room should provide ease of integration to networks, content management, file servers and cloud sharing. What Are the Benefits of a Huddle Space? Taking advantage of existing office space – Huddle collaboration by its very nature assumes minimal space. It is not necessary to add to existing space or to infringe on a small office. A modest area is all that is required to take full advantage of what a huddle space offers. This minimizes expenditures and increases the value of real estate. Unused space can be a perfect setting for a huddle room. This is not to say that a large conference room is unnecessary, but a huddle space can be a useful adjunct. An intimate space – Collaboration is an informal exchange of ideas and planning. Interference such as noise and motion work against maintaining collaborative connections. A huddle collaboration room can provide a space free from distractions where people can work quietly without interruption. Remote workers using video conferencing tend to feel more connected and can interact with a feeling of almost being face-to-face with other members of the small group, as well. Achieving more with less – Huddle rooms have flexibility in a less formal atmosphere than a large conference room can provide. Millennials find the intimate environment especially motivating. According to the Ringelmann Effect, the larger the group, the less productive the members become. The small size of a huddle space may seem counterproductive at first glance, but they are ideal for presentations, webinars, job interviews and offer a budget-friendly setting. Companies such as Data Projections can skillfully assess a firm’s needs, make recommendations, and implement the required technology and solutions suitable for a huddle space. http://www.dataprojections.com/dp-unified-communications/hud... What is a Huddle Space? A huddle space is a communal area or a small meeting room where creative teams gather to collaborate with each other and also with remote colleagues, partners and clients. They’re becoming more and more popular as companies phase out offices and cubicles in favor of open, or even hot desk, work environments. http://www.tely.com/tely-improve-collaboration-enterprise-hu... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2 hrs (2017-08-07 16:21:50 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- What is a huddle space? A huddle space is a smaller meeting space, which can take place just about anywhere. It typically accommodates six or less attendees. They range from basic spaces to well-equipped and advanced rooms. Basic huddle spaces, with either open area or private closed rooms, may be equipped with a small table, some chairs, a speakerphone, and perhaps a dry erase board. Whereas, well-equipped and advanced huddle rooms may include flat panel displays, integrated AV conferencing, and a wireless presentation system. Huddle spaces do not typically include enhancements such as ceiling speakers, acoustic wall treatment, or AV control system. What should your huddle space include to promote collaboration? The way huddle spaces are used varies by organization, location, vertical market, culture, etc. Whether or not a huddle space is effective depends on the given task and requirement of the space. If you’re planning for a well-equipped huddle space, you should also consider your AV technology needs as well. In general, your huddle space should include equipment that has: 1.Interoperability with other products you may have in the space such as screens, projectors, panels, or touchscreens. 2.BYOD support which allows collaboration/sharing of any type of device the meeting participant has. For example, participants could bring a laptop, tablet PC, mobile phone, or netbook and connect with ease. 3.Content sharing capabilities. For example, a presenter may need to share any number of pieces of content with other participants simultaneously. 4.An intuitive interface, which will reduce barriers to use. The easier your equipment is to use, the more participants feel comfortable using new technology. 5.The ability to allow an unlimited number of users to participate. While there is a practical limit to the number of people that can fit in a room or share a screen, facilities change and so do user’s needs. Try not to get locked into limiting systems which only allow 4-6 concurrent users. http://blog.blackbox.eu/blog/2015/11/encourage-collaboration... |
