I looked it up in my advanced technical dictionary. But as I state, I am positive it's the right translation in this context!

Asker: Jeg vil give BowAndFiddle ret. "Smelte" hører til i fx jernindustrien. Jeg har efterfølgende slået termen op i IATE, hvor der er angivet "destillationsbundfald" i forbindelse med kemisk industri. Det lyder som og lader til at være en korrekte term i petrokemisk sammenhæng.

disagree  Jørgen Ellekjær: Smelte er materiale som er så varmt, at det er på flydende form. En glassmelte f.eks. Jeg opfatter kontekst som om der er tale om materialer der er på væskeform ved stuetemperatur. Kan man så tale om en smelte?
