A technique of deception and psychological manipulation, usually practiced by a single deceiver, or “gaslighter,” on a single victim over an extended period. Its effect is to gradually undermine the victim’s confidence in their own ability to distinguish truth from falsehood, thereby rendering them dependent on the gaslighter.

Jako gaslighting se v psychologii označuje nebezpečná technika manipulace, kdy je oběti narušováno vnímání vlastní reality. Gaslighter se do hlavy oběti vkrádá krůček po krůčku a zasévá v ní spoustu lží, které pomalu stupňuje. Ve výsledku si oběť již není vůbec jistá tím, co je realita a co se nikdy nestalo.
