V armádě USA je to „the third lowest Army rank, directly above Private (PV2)“.
Podle nejrůznějších zdrojů a slovníků se překládá jako „svobodník“, ale podle tabulky NATO odpovídá kódu OR-3, tedy v češtině vyšší hodnosti četaře. Nevím, který překlad je tedy vhodnější a jak v pojmech mohl vzniknout takový rozpor. Jde o překlad titulků k válečnému filmu.

agree  Jirka Bolech: „Svobodník” je prostě zavedený překlad pro „private first class”, možná proto, že pod tím jsou sice dvě hodnosti, ale obě se formálně označují jako „private“ (https://www.army.mil/ranks/) = vojín…
