disagree  dkalinic: Kolega, expire ovdje ne ide jer bi se moglo shvatiti kao da je govornik umro. U hrvatskome "ispustiti dušu" znači biti "mrtav umoran". Dakle, dead tired, half-dead je tu sasvim razumljivo.

  -> "ispustiti dušu" znači "izdahnuti (dušu), umrijeti" a metaforički se koristi kao u primjeru da je nešto učinjeno s krajnjim naporom; vjerujem da će kolegica znati dodati "almost" u pomanjkanju nekog boljeg rješenja

Cini mi se da se sintagma "[skoro] ispustiti dusu" solidno dade prevesti s u engleskom uobicajenim "to [almost] die of exhaustion", u smislu bivanja "dead tired"/"mrtvim umornim". Osim ako nije potrebna neka visoka razina stilisticke obojenosti teksta...
