Dutch term
in jugulum
Dutch to English
Medical
Medical (general)
In a document drawing up practical guidelines for the treatment of deep sternal wound infections using VAC Therapy
Am I correct in thinking that this refers to the jugular/suprasternal notch? In which case, would this work: "Contact with the entire cranial wound surface at the suprasternal notch requires special attention"?
Thanks again.

If you were right I would let you know, but, sorry, `in jugulo`is nowhere to be found in your reference and `in jugulo´ is what I tried to point out = 'at the suprasternal notch'

iugullum = dim. iugum, the collar-bone, hollow part of the neck: iugula concava habere.

: I would tend to agree with you, Lianne. Coehlo: 'jugulum': (L) kuil boven het borstbeen. Dorland's: 'jugulum' springs to 'jugular' [ L. jugularis, from jugulum neck ]: 1. cervical (def. 1, pertaining to the neck.) 2. pertaining to a jugular vein. 3. a jug

at the suprasternal notch
also because of the specific context
normally 'in jugulo'

If a patient has difficulty breathing, sometimes a symptom known as a * suprasternal notch retraction * can be observed. In these patients, the struggle to breathe can cause the notch to appear to retract into the chest. This is usually a cause of problems with pleural pressure, the pressure in the space which surrounds the lungs.

Try Google: "NTVG" and "in jugulo"
This will make it clear
One example:

: exactly what I posted, why not agree then with my answer? See also my reference (wisegeek): also sometimes known as the jugular notch or as the fossa jugularis sternalis among the Latin-inclined // 'suprasternal notch' is most commonly used, that's why

So this would be the correct answer.
This means I answered your question.
My thought is: they use in jugulum, why not keep the root? Suprasternal notch (incisura jugularis sterni) probably is fine too.
normally 'in jugulo'
boven het borstbeen = in jugulo
