Thanks, Lene. This doesn't involve Banana Republic but your comments are apropos. I need to look more closely at how these particular tøjmærker are marketed to make up my mind. I think they're still labels by your reasoning.

GAP currently own five U.S. brands, which is Banana Republic, Forth & Towne, Gap, Old Navy, and Piperlime. Within these brands, you will find that each brand has different clothing lines or collections, such as BR Monogram, Editions by BR, etc. Within the fashion industry, as far as I can deduce, these are often referred to as labels. Thus, Banana Republic would be the Brand, the Editions by BR collection would be referred to as a label.
If this distribution agreement is regarding the right to distribute ALL Banana Republic's clothing lines/labels/collections, then brand should be used. However, if this only pertains to the rights of select collections/lines/labels within the Banana Republic portfolio, then label should be used.

Personally Charles, I would use "labels" because, as you say, it is common practice to use "label" to mean brand. It just feels right.
But I don't think it matters.
I look forward to hearing what ideas other have :)
