This comes up a lot in my business translations. One can either buy from an "online store" or a "traditional store". "Retail store" would be more specific for a product retail business.

Traditional store is lay terminology. Terminology for the masses. If the context requires something more exacting for the specified audience (in the question the audience is not specified). As for Mr. Pletka's unprofessional comment on native speakers of English, I have to smile at it since he knows absolutely nothing about me. Maybe we could go for a coffee sometime?
