declaration of public interest Explanation: The usual process for a heritage site is for it to be declared of public interest. That provides initial protection. If considered important enough it is then declared a "national heritage site". Finally, the holy grail for owners of such sites is to have it declared a world heritage site. Guaranteed tourism! -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 9 days (2010-05-27 14:09:53 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I'd say "in the process of being granted heritage status" - to describe objects or places that are on the road to becoming part of the nations' heritage. I don't like either of your options in the note to answerer section, they don't sound very "native". For buildings that have joined this august company, then Andrew's option would be open too: "the building, which has recently been listed..." |
