smoky odour/burning heart/broken heart Explanation: In Gulf Area they use رائحة العطاب for any smoke odour. So for example : اشتم رائحة عطاب I smell smoke (that type of a starting fire) but sure they dont mean the rag itself , they mean the smelling of the smoke of a starting fire , a fire at its start which has special smell . That smell they call it عطاب. And it is for them an alarming moment to find the source of that smoke. https://www.almaany.com/ar/dict/ar-en/رائحة-الدخان/ And since this is a poem so عطبة means here the broken heart that got the fire of sadness (whatever the reason of that sadness) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 39 mins (2021-02-16 22:01:28 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- عطّاب او عطّابة او عطبة are same just different accents |
