Arabic term or phrase: العصرية
تشتغل صديقتي من الصبح الواعد الى العصرية الملولة الى الليل اللامنتهي

I know that the common meaning of this word is "contemporary" but I'm assuming that here, it means "afternoon". While I am pretty confident with my assumption, all the dictionaries I've checked only give "contemporary" as the meaning, so I want to confirm my assumption.

Mid afternoon / late afternoon

Explanation:
You are correct in your assumption. However, you can consider using "Midafternoon" or “late afternoon"; should the text require a narrow or specific indication rather than a broad one.

Explanation:
Dictionaries identify ''العصرية'' as the feminine form of the adjective ''عصري''. As a result, you get the meaning: ''modern'' or one of its derivatives.
''العصرية'' , as used in your context, finds its origin in the standard Arabic term ''العصر'', which refers to the ''afternoon'' part of the day. (See link)

As for the term ''الملولة'' it seems to derive its morphology from the root ''مَلَّ''. Therefore, I am more inclined to believe that the phrase ''العصرية الملولة'' translates as '' late afternoon''.

Now, the entire context seems to convey the idea/meaning that the writer's friend works around the clock, or so.

I sure do. Please note that I explained that ''الملولة'' seems to derive from the root ''مَلَّ'', which obviously means ''get bored''. My understanding however is, given the context, it conveys the meaning of ''late'' afternoon instead of ''boring'' afternoon.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Interesting - so you don't think ''الملولة'' has something to do with boredom?

Asker: Thank you for your further explanation :)
