Just one Jul 5, 2010

I attended one, in Bacharach in December 2003. I'd attend more but am a bit out in the sticks here!

Only one Jul 5, 2010

In Valencia a couple of years ago; it was a great experience meeting colleagues in person.
I have the same problem as Mary-W nowadays, living in the back of beyond is very peaceful and perfect for working from home, but makes it a struggle to manage to get to any social gatherings with a fixed schedule.
I highly recommend attending though, it was definitely a useful experience.

I've attended 5 powwows and organized 4 of them...
And it's always a great ocasion of knowing new ProZians and giving a 3D image to profile photos we can find on ProZ.com

Powwows in Uruguay are a lot of fun Jul 5, 2010

We've had two excellent organizers: first, Fabio Descalzi and now Laureana Pavón.

These get-togethers have always been a lot of fun and a great opportunity for meeting other colleagues — important contacts, extraordinary friends. This way I've overcome that feeling of isolation that translators often complain about.

Thanks Laureana and Fabio!

Two Jul 5, 2010

Attended two: one in Brussels and one in Düsseldorf. Organized one in Brussels.
The one in Düsseldorf is always a "happening" and full of interesting people.

... And really sorry I can't make the one in Padborg/Flensburg in September. But I can't be in two places at once, and some family events even take priority over powwows!

The Danish ones are really great, and I was lucky enough to attend one in Warsaw last year. So THANKS to the organisers! I must try it myself one day.

They are really worth the effort of coming.

Too many to count... Jul 5, 2010

We have them every month here in Cardiff, and I've only missed 2 or 3 in two years There are 3 or 4 of us who take turns organising it. Have also attended in Bristol and Exeter.

New to Powwow Jul 5, 2010

I tried to get to a Powow in Long Beach, but it was just at the time of the Grand Prix so there were so many areas closed off so I couldn't get the meeting point on time.
There's one happening in Burbank soon, so I will definitely try to get to that.
I look forward to meeting other translators.
